Introduction
The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), located on the Giza Plateau, near the Pyramids of Giza, is set to become the world’s largest archaeological museum dedicated to a single civilization.

History
The concept for the Grand Egyptian Museum was first proposed in 2002, with the goal of creating a modern, world-class facility to preserve and display Egypt’s invaluable antiquities.

Designed by Heneghan Peng Architects, the museum features a striking geometric structure with a translucent façade, inspired by the pyramids.
The foundation stone was laid in 2002, and construction officially began in 2012. Despite several delays, the museum is slated to open soon, promising to be a monumental addition to Egypt’s cultural landscape.
